Configuring items for translation
You can configure your source and target translation content at Publication level or at Folder, Structure Group or Category level.
- Publication level
- If the content within a Publication is translated into the same languages, you can configure translation at a global level in a Publication properties.
- Folder, Structure Group or Category level
- If you want different content within a Publication to be translated into different languages, you can configure content for translation at a Folder, Structure Group, and Category level.
You need to configure where your source content is located and where translated (target) content is put:
- Source item—a Publication, Folder, Structure Group, or Category in the BluePrint hierarchy containing content in a source language. The languages into which a source language can be translated is configured on your translation system.
- Target item—a Publication, Folder, Structure Group, or Category in the BluePrint hierarchy (in a Child Publication) configured to receive content translated by a translation system. The source content is in a Publication, Folder, Structure Group, or Category in a Parent Publication higher up the BluePrint hierarchy (configured as a containing source content).
- Source/Target items—a Publication, Folder, Structure Group, or Category in the BluePrint hierarchy configured to receive content translated by a translation system, and which also contains content in a source language. The source language content can be translated content (local copies), or it can be local content (created in that Publication).
