User rights and permissions
You need to set up user rights and permissions for Audience Manager and Outbound E-mail users to restrict access to certain content and specify the tasks a user is allowed to perform.
- Rights determine the type of building block, for example Contact, Distribution List, Mailing or Segment, that a Content Manager user can work with. A System Administrator assigns specific rights for each Publication.
- Permissions determine whether users can read, create, or delete the building blocks for which they have rights. For Outbound E-mail and Audience Manager you need to set permissions on Address Books and Folders.
You need to set Rights for Outbound E-mail items and Rights for Audience Manager items at Publication level to restrict access and actions users may perform on Outbound E-mail and Audience Manager items. Outbound E-mail and Audience Manager items are secured as follows:
| Level | Rights required to set rights and permissions | Item |
|---|---|---|
| At System Administration level, System Administrators can create Address Books. | ||
At Publication level, users with Publication Management rights can:
| ||
| In the Outbound-Email node, users with Permissions Management, Publication Management, or Outbound E-mail Folder Management rights can set Read/Write/Delete permissions on Folders to specify what actions users or User Groups can perform on items (Mailings and Distribution Lists) for which they have rights. | ||
| In the Audience Manager node, users with Permissions Management, Publication Management, or Outbound E-mail Folder Management rights can set Read/Write/Delete permissions on Folders to specify what actions users or User Groups can perform on items (Segments) for which they have rights. | ||
| Users with Permissions Management rights can set permissions on Address Books. |
