Editing Content Assets in Content Manager Explorer

You create and edit Web site content in the Content Manager Explorer. You can open and edit Components, Multimedia Components and Pages used in the Initiative directly from the Online Marketing Explorer.

Before you begin

You can open Local copies or Localized items (Assets) for editing in Content Manager Explorer from the Online Marketing Explorer. You cannot edit a shared item, or an item that is checked out. To edit a shared item, you either need to edit the Parent item or Localize the item.

About this task

The following icons are displayed in an Asset on the Initiative canvas to denote the BluePrint status of the item:

Localized itemLocal copy of a shared item (localizing is the process of creating a local copy of a shared item). You can edit a localized item.
Local itemItem created in a (Child) Publication.
Shared itemItem shared from a Parent Publication (read-only items). To edit a shared item, edit the item in the Parent Publication or localize the item to create a local copy.

A checked-out icon is displayed in the bottom-right corner of an Asset on the Initiative canvas to denote whether the item is being used or not:

Procedure

  1. Open the Online Marketing Explorer.
  2. Open an Initiative:
    1. Navigate to where your Initiatives are stored in the Initiative Management navigation pane.
    2. Click a Publication.
    3. Browse through the Folder structure to locate your Initiatives. The Initiatives overview screen displays all the Initiatives in the currently selected Folder.
    4. In the canvas, double-click an Initiative or click Open in the ribbon toolbar to open it for editing.
  3. Double-click a Component, Multimedia Component or Page to open it for editing, or select the Asset and choose Open in the Home tab of the Ribbon.

Results

The Component, Multimedia Component or Page opens in the Content Manager Explorer.
