Adding Profiling to Web page
To set up Profiling on the Content Delivery server, your published Web page must contain code that activates Tracking Key collection and/or a track dispatcher that gathers information about served Pages, Components, and Component links. This code also uses cookies to handle the identification and persistence of visitors.
About this task
To insert tracking code on the published Web page, you need to include the default Template Building Block Activate Tracking in your Compound Template to activate tracking. When a Page is rendered with a template that includes Activate Tracking, the published Web page includes the code that activates Tracking Keys and Tracking, if configured.
Procedure
- Start Template Builder by selecting Start from the Windows menu and selecting SDL Web > Template Builder from All Programs or Programs.
- Create or open a Compound Template.
- In Building Blocks view, select the Activate Tracking Template Building Block.
- Drag and drop the Template Building Block from the Building Blocks view to the Compound Template view. A horizontal bar shows the drop location while dragging.
- Run the Compound Template by clicking the Run button in the toolbar.
- Click OK to commit your settings.
