Linking source and target folders
Linkage defines the relationship between source folders, which contain assets in the source language, and target folders, which contain translated content for each target locale. By configuring linkage, you indicate where you want to save translated content.
Before you begin
- At least one source asset or folder.
- At least one target asset or folder.
- At least one locale configured for each source asset or folder.
- At least one locale configured for each target asset or folder.
- Different locales for source and target assets or folders.
About this task
Linkage is often important to WorldServer, because WorldServer uses it to determine which assets are valid candidates for translation.
For example, a business rule might select twenty different assets for potential translation from English into German. When you create a project, you can configure WorldServer to process only new or changed assets. WorldServer uses the linkage rules that you configure to determine which target asset is mapped to each source asset. Then, it determines whether each source asset has been updated compared to its corresponding target asset.
