Modifying quality models

Error types and severities are the most common things that you might want to modify in quality models.

About this task

The primary use case for reviews would be to set up the quality model before creating the projects that use it. However, in certain situations, you might need to change the quality model while it is in use. For example, during the review cycle, you might realize that you need to add an extra error type to the model. You can modify quality models while they are in use, but with the following effects:
  • In SDL Online Editor, the changes are applied after you close the asset and open it again. However, this might affect the TQA assessments that you or other users have already added (the error types and severities might be different). Also, when working with SDL Online Editor, you should not delete error types or severities while the quality model is in use.
  • In Browser Workbench, changes are applied immediately. The new settings become available the next time you try to report an error.
  • In desktop translation tools, changes are not immediately visible. You need to export a new translation kit from WorldServer to get the updated quality model.

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, go to Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Quality Models.
  2. Click the quality model that you want to modify.
  3. On the Quality Model:<Name> page, make the necessary changes.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Select Save to save your changes within the same quality model.
    • Change the name of the quality model, and then select Save as New to save your changes as a new quality model.
