Requesting translations with Trados Translator

Requesting a translation involves selecting the source content and the target languages, configuring settings related to the translation provider, as well as specifying a due date for the translation.

About this task

While Trados supports the creation of project templates and projects which have the same source and target language, we strongly recommend that you do not submit such projects via connectors. Your content tool or your CMS application may not support the retrieval of files which have the same source and target language.

Procedure

  1. In Drupal, go to Translation and select the Sources tab.
  2. In the Choose source list, select the source content that you want to be translated.
You can select more than one item.
  3. In the Target language list, select whether you want the content to be translated into one or more target languages.
    • If you select a specific language, the source content will be translated only into that particular language.
    • If you select Multiple, each available target language will be displayed. In this case, select the check box corresponding to each target language that you want to add to your project.A screen shot of a project configuration with multiple target languages selected.
  4. Select Request translation.
  5. On the Job Overview page, under Label, enter a label to identify your translation more easily.
If you do not enter a label, a default label will be provided.
  6. Expand the CONFIGURE PROVIDER and CHECKOUT SETTINGS sections, and then do the following:
    1. In the Provider list, select the translation provider you created.
    2. In the Project Options Name list, select the configuration or workflow that will be used in Trados.
    3. In the Project Name box, enter a name for your project.
This is the name that your project will have in Trados Customer Portal.
    4. In the Project Description box, enter a description for your project.
    5. In the Due Date field, enter the due date of your project.
  7. Select Submit to provider to submit the content that needs to be translated.
