Customers

You organize your work per customer. Customers are the ones who give you content for localization. Each customer you create has a location (a folder) in your account structure. The following resources are created automatically for each customer: field template, and language processing rule.

When you create (add) a customer, a location is created automatically for that customer. The name of a customer is the same as the name of its location. When you create resources, you will save them in a location, which means that these resources will be associated with a customer.

There are two types of customer users: customer requesters (who submit projects for translation) and customer reviewers (who check the final translation). There are 2 types of customer requester roles: Customer Requester and Customer Requester Restricted. Users who have the Customer Requester role can see their peers' projects in Trados Customer Portal, while users who have the Customer Requester Restricted role cannot see their peers' projects in Trados Customer Portal. The Customer Requester group is provisioned automatically by the system for each customer you add. The Customer Requester Restricted group is not provisioned automatically by the system, which means that you need to create one before adding users and setting them up.

You can set up specific project templates for customers. These templates will then be used as part of the project creation process.

Customer users can submit translation projects in two ways:
  • By accessing the Trados Customer Portal and creating translation projects. Project managers log in to Trados Enterprise and manage the content translation and delivery from there on.
  • By submitting a translation request to a project manager via email, for example. Project managers create the translation projects and manage the content translation and delivery in Trados Enterprise from there on.

For more information, check the permissions associated with the Customer Requester and Customer Reviewer roles and personas.

After customers submit their content for translation, they can access the customer quote from Trados Customer Portal. The customer quote is the sum of all the translation costs and all additional costs (at language and project level) in a project and is generated based on the pricing model associated with the project. Customers can approve or adjust the quote.
