Deleting customers

You can delete the customers that you no longer work with. When you delete a customer, you delete its folder from the account structure. You cannot delete a customer which has children folders.

Before you begin

When you add a customer, a folder is created for that customer together with a set of default resources:

  • Customer Requester group (if you have the Trados Customer Portal entitlement)
  • Customer Reviewer group (if you have the Customer Reviewer entitlement)
  • Default Language Resource Template
  • Default Field Template
  • Default File Type Settings

During the project lifecycle, you can and will also add other resources to your customer folder: TMs, termbases, field templates, custom fields, file type settings, users, groups, projects and so on. To delete a customer successfully, you must delete all these resources (the resources associated with or included in the customer folder you want to delete) manually. You do not need to delete any default resources, as these will be deleted automatically once you initiate the customer deletion.

Before you delete a customer, ensure that your customer:
  • Does not include any custom resource or any project in its folder
    1. Go to the view where your resource is located, use the left-hand side menu to filter your resource by the customer your want to delete. For example, to delete all the TMs associated with a customer called "ACME", go to the Resources view, select Translation Memories, and filter your TMs by the "ACME" Location value. Access all the available views in the application, filter the resources by the customer you want to delete.
    2. Select the check boxes corresponding to the resources you want to delete, and select Delete.
  • Does not have a key contact or any other users included in customer groups
    1. Go to the Customers view and select the check box corresponding to the customer you want to delete.
    2. Select Edit.
    3. Select the Users sub-tab.
    4. Select the check box corresponding to the users associated with your customer, and select Delete > Yes.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Trados Enterprise (by accessing this link: http://languagecloud.sdl.com/lc).
  2. Go to the Customers view.
  3. Delete the customers you no longer need:
    • You can delete several customers at once by selecting their check boxes and then selecting Delete > Yes. If at least one of the customers in your bulk selection cannot be deleted, you get a notification about the number of failed deleted resources. To view details about the type of resources that need to be deleted manually, one-by-one deletion is required (in-line delete button - see next option).
    • You can delete each customer one by one by selecting the customer check box, and then selecting Delete > Yes. Alternatively, hover over the customer row, go to the end of the row (right-hand side), and select the delete icon. If your customer still has at least one resource still attached, you get a notification about the resources still attached to that customer with an indication for you to go and delete the associated resources. Retry your delete operation after all customer resources are deleted.
