Linking termbase entries via term IDs

Each termbase entry has an ID. You can link termbase entries to each other via their IDs.

Before you begin

Ensure that you added field information to your termbase entry.

Procedure

  1. In Trados Studio, select Sign in in the top-right corner to connect to your cloud account.
  2. Log in with your RWS ID credentials. Trados Studio shows all the cloud accounts that you are a member of.
  3. Select your cloud account name from the drop-down menu, and then select RWS Account at the bottom of the window. This opens your cloud account in your default browser where you are prompted to log in.
  4. In the cloud environment, go to the Terminology view or to the Projects > Resources > Termbases.
  5. Click inside a termbase row to open the termbase.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • If you can find the first term you want to link, select it.
    • If you cannot find the first term you want to link, search for it, and then select it.
  7. Select Copy Entry Id and paste the term ID to a location of your choice.
  8. Find the second term you want to link.
  9. Identify the field where you want to insert the term ID.
  10. Select the field value.
  11. Select link symbol.
  12. In the Manage a Cross-reference dialog, select the Entry Id sub-tab and insert the ID.
  13. Select Save.
  14. Select confirmation symbol.

Link termbase entry A ID to termbase entry B

Let's consider you have two termbase entries: entry A and entry B. You want to link the English version of entry A to the English version of entry B via an ID. The Note field is available for each termbase entry.

Do the following:
  1. Open the termbase.
  2. Select entry A.
  3. Select Copy Entry Id and paste the term ID to a location of your choice.
  4. Select entry B.
  5. Select Note.
  6. Select link symbol.
  7. In the Manage a Cross-reference dialog, and select the Entry ID sub-tab.
  8. Paste the ID of entry A.
  9. Select Save.
  10. Select confirmation symbol.
