WorldServer for administrators
WorldServer administrators manage many aspects related to the application, such as users and authentication, the translation process, system maintenance and job monitoring, notifications, customizations and custom components, as well as WorldServer TransPort.
- Administering users and groups of users
In WorldServer, user administration operates on many different levels to provide a high degree of flexibility over the sections that each user can have access to. You can organize users into user types, workgroups, vendors, and clients. - Authentication settings for WorldServer users
As a WorldServer administrator, you can configure how you want your users to log in to WorldServer. - Administering the WorldServer translation process
For translators and reviewers to perform their tasks as efficiently as possible, you need to manage aspects of the translation process such as locales, business rules, quality models, project types, file types, or scoping configurations. - Copying WorldServer configurations
You can copy the objects in a WorldServer configuration from by exporting them from one server and importing them into another one. For example, this might be useful if you have just set up WorldServer on your test environment and you want to replicate this setup on a production environment. You can import and export WorldServer objects either from the WorldServer user interface or by using the wstool command-line tool. - Report administration
By default, WorldServer uses JasperReports Server as its reporting engine. As an administrator, you can configure WorldServer to use another reporting tool and assign permissions to Report Center users. - System maintenance and job monitoring
Basic system maintenance activities include configuring settings related to garbage collection and keeping track of installed versions and hotfixes. As an administrator, you can also monitor and manage the background jobs, the segmentation jobs, and the automatic actions in the system. - TransPort administration
An overview of the tasks that administrators need to perform before content submitters and other user types can start using WorldServer TransPort. TransPort stands for Translation Portal and is a web-based portal to WorldServer in which users with the appropriate permissions can create and manage translation projects and quotes. - Customizations and custom components
In WorldServer, the term customization can mean two things: (1) a custom component that you can create and add to enhance standard WorldServer functionality or (2) a custom user interface element that you can add to the WorldServer user interface. - Configuring notification delivery
To make sure that automatic email notifications are sent successfully, you need to perform several steps both within WorldServer (e.g. configure notification delivery settings) and in the general.properties file (e.g. turn on the notification engine). - License management
WorldServer licenses govern the number of users you can create and determine until when you can use WorldServer on your environment. WorldServer is shipped with an unlimited number of licenses for the locales that you can work with. You may need separate licenses for optional features, such as connectors to third-party repositories.
