Creating a checkpoint

This task explains how to create a checkpoint on an object. You use a checkpoint if you need to roll-back to a previous version of the object. Contenta also generates checkpoints automatically each time you modify an an object.

About this task

You can manually create a checkpoint on an object to mark a point in history with a description for future reference. For example you could create a checkpoint with a description of a significant change in the data. Contenta creates many checkpoints on each object, so creating a checkpoint allows you to easily find a particular point.

Use the Checkpoint tool to create a checkpoint in the object's history. Contenta automatically generates a checkpoint in an object's history whenever you modify the contents of the object. Additionally, system-generated checkpoints include the:
  • checkpoint ID (internal revision number)
  • desktop name of the user who was responsible for the checkpoint
  • date and time of the revision
