Reordering objects within a container object

This task explains how to reorder objects within a container object in the tree view.

Before you begin

You must have the appropriate permission to use this tool; it may not be in your toolbox.

About this task

Within a Container object, objects follow a prescribed order, called the build order. The first object that is created becomes the first in child list. You can use the Reorder tool to change the order of objects within a container, which then becomes the default build order for all users.

Procedure

  1. In the tree view, right-click on a container object, click more, and then click Reorder.
  2. Click an object, and then click the up- or down-triangle until the object appears where you want it within the container. If necessary, continue to reorder other objects within the container.
  3. Click OK.
  4. To sort objects by name, status, object ID, path ID, or other attributes displayed in the column's header row, click the header in the list view.
  5. To restore a build order, click the pyramid icon on the toolbar.
