Synchronizing a LiveContent S1000D Mobile client

How to synchronize a tablet device with the latest content on the Content Package Server.

About this task

Using the Content Package Server, users can synchronize the content on the client device to the latest content packages via the LiveContent S1000D Mobile app interface.

When a user connects to the internet, the interface indicates if an IETM has been added or changed since the last synchronization. The user can select one or more IETMs to add or synchronize, or can opt to synchronize all IETMs on the tablet.

Procedure

  1. On the tablet device, open the LiveContent S1000D Mobile app.
  2. If you haven't done so already, specify the URL and port number through which the device will access the LiveContent S1000D Mobile.
This value must indicate the port where the Content Package Server is installed, which is also specified by the Content Package Server application.properties file. See Configuring the LiveContent S1000D Mobile app for more information.
  3. Select Sync for the publication you want to update.
The app prompts you to confirm that you want to continue.
  4. Select Yes to continue.
The latest version of each publication is loaded on the device. Any .zip files and their corresponding packageNamelibrary.json file previously copied to the mobile device via File Sharing mode using iTunes, or a similar tool will remain on the device in the directory where they were originally located. Synchronizing app will just remove them from the app.
  5. If this is the first time the device has been synched with the Content Package Server, you may need to close and reopen the mobile app for publication list to be loaded on the device.
  6. Optionally, select Sync Back for each publication in the Publication list to upload user-generated content (annotations, saved searches, and audit logs) from the tablet to the LiveContent S1000D file system.
