Batch assigning tasks

Batch assign functionality allows Translation Leads to assign multiple tasks to the same resource in one action.

Before you begin

Task Types that can be batch assigned are:
  • Assign Translation Task
  • Translate
  • Post Edit Only
  • Post Edit
  • Conversion
  • Target Only Review
  • Translation Only
  • Review
  • Finalise
  • Implement Client Review
  • LSO
Batch assigning can be completed in two locations:
  • The Task List
  • A Project Tasks tab
The jobs must share the same:
  • Task Type
  • Client Division
  • Source and Target Language
  • Statuses - either New or Unlocked (unless the tasks are Pending status and located in the Management Tasks report).

Procedure

  1. Locate and check together the jobs to batch assign from your Task List or Project > Tasks tab.
  2. Scroll to the quick view area at the bottom of the screen.
  3. For Assign Translation Task batches only:
    • Confirm if Machine Translation was used.
    • If assigning to a Vendor, check the Send to Vendor box and complete the additional Parent and Child sector fields.
    • If the work is being assigned within SDL, enter the name of the internal Translator and Reviewer.
    • Click Assign Work.
  4. For all other Task Types enter the name of the resource in the Assign To box and click Assign.

Results

All checked tasks have been assigned in one action. For internal resources, the task appears automatically in the task list of the Translator. For tasks assigned to Vendors, the Create Vendor PO task is ready for completion in the task list. You were marked as the Owner of all tasks assigned.
