Translate

Translators pick up translation jobs directly from their task lists.

Before you begin

You must be a Translator with the appropriate permissions within the group matrix to be able to view translation tasks sent from Project Management Offices, or assigned by Translation Leads.

About this task

Small jobs under 300 total words are available directly in the task list of a Translator. Large jobs over 300 total words are assigned by a Translation Lead to the Translator's task list.

Procedure

  1. Within your Helix task list navigate to the job with a Translate task type status.
  2. Check the box for the task.
  3. Scroll to the quick view area at the bottom of the page and review the details of the job.
  4. Click Own to own the task, if it was not assigned to you already.
  5. Click Start to begin working on the task.
  6. Use the Stop button to pause translating, for example when taking a break. Click Start to begin tracking time again when the break has finished.
  7. When the translation is complete:
    1. Confirm if Machine Translation was used.
    2. Enter a translation Comment for the Translation Lead and PMO office to view.
    3. Enter the Translated File Location subfolder.
    4. If the task was outsourced to an external vendor and the delivery was late, amend the On-Time Delivery score. The more impactful the delay is, the lower the score should be. Please take into consideration the delay itself, but also any heads-up the external vendor might have provided.
    5. Opt to skip Review and/or Finalise stages if required. See the "Skipping Review and/or Finalise stages" topic for more information.
  8. Click Complete.

Results

If a reviewer is set on the task, the task moves automatically to their task list for action. If no reviewer is set, the task moves back to the task list of the Translation Lead for allocation.
