Importing Terminology from TBX Format

The TBX (Term Base eXchange) format is used for both imports and exports, for the purpose of exchanging information between users of CAT tools. You can import a TBX file into a server TermBase. Attachments cannot be imported in a TermBase from a TBX file.

Procedure

  1. From the Start screen of MultiTrans, click Build TermBase.
  2. Select Import into existing TermBase and TBX.
  3. Click Create.
  4. Enter the name of the TermBase you would like to import the file into.
  5. If you would like to identify duplicates in your imported file by adding a prefix to the duplicated terms, select Check for duplicates and type the desired prefix in the field Prefix with.
  6. Select the import format as TBX.
  7. If you are importing date fields, select the Date format (the format in which dates currently appear in your TBX file).
  8. Click Select File and browse to the location where each of the TBX and the XCS files are saved.
  9. Click Save.
The entry status now shows as Import Started.
  10. Click Refresh.
When the status changes to Import Completed, the TBX file has been imported into the TermBase.
