Navigating the TermBase Web Interface
Understand the view of the TermBase Web.
The TermBase Web interface is very intuitive and user-friendly. On the left-hand side of the screen you see a menu bar with some or all of the following functions: Advanced Search, TermBase Languages, Filter, Import, Export, Administration, and Display (some menu items depend on your license). From this menu you can perform advanced searches, modify the source and target languages, create filters, perform imports and exports, view the history of edits and manage your field definitions as well as the display of your term records.
To the right of the menu bar is the Term List pane which displays all the terms within your open TermBase. The quick search function is accessible within the Term List pane. Note that the basic search only works on the actual term list which is unilingual in the source language. To search for terms and equivalents in other languages, click the Advanced Search tab and select Options, then select the languages for your search under the Languages tab. Alternatively, you can click the TermBase Languages tab in the menu bar and choose your language from the Source Language dropdown list.
There is an Administration Console that is used to manage the servers. In that console, you can set whether the basic search is “starts with” or “contains”. Any modification made through the Console affects all users of MultiTrans, whether they are using the Web or the local version of the application.
To the right of the Term List pane is the Details pane. This is where the term details are displayed and edited when a term is selected.
At the top of the screen - above the menu bar, the Term List pane, and the Details pane - you find the TermBase Web functions menu. From this menu, you can click different action buttons to add, delete, duplicate, merge, modify, print and email records as well as switch between TextBases and TermBases, change the interface language, modify your password, and apply filters. TermBase Web users with a certain profile will have varying degrees of access to the action buttons on the functions menu, depending on the type of license they have. For example, a TermBase administrator can create new terminology records as well as edit, delete, and duplicate records, whereas a viewer can only see and print records.
