Opening Source and Target Original Files
Whenever a file is appended to a TextBase it is converted to an input format (.sml), which is a specific XML format. This is the reason for which texts are always displayed in TextBase Search without any images as well as limited formatting attributes. As long as the source files remain in their original locations, they can still be accessed through MultiTrans.
About this task
Since this function opens the file in its original format, the appropriate program needs to be installed in order to open the file. For example, you will need Microsoft Word to open a .docx file.
Procedure
- From the TextBase Search window, open the TextBases tab.
- Locate and select the file you want to view.
- Right-click on the file and select either Open Source File or Open Target File.
- You can also open source files in their original file format from the Search Results area of the Search tab by right-clicking on the file name and selecting Open Source File.
