Setting your Search Options

Configure a variety of options to expand or restrict your search results.

Procedure

  1. Click Options in the Search tab of the TermBase Editor.
The multi-tab TermBase Search Options window displays.
  2. In the Name column of the TermBases tab, check the box beside the names of the TermBases you wish to have included in your search. If all TermBases are already checked, uncheck any TermBase in which you do not wish to search.
  3. In the Name column of the Fields tab, check the box beside the field names you wish to include in your search.
    1. By default the Show system fields box is unchecked. To display system fields such as Created date, Created by, Modified date and Modified by, check this box.
    2. Click Select all to check all boxes or Unselect all to uncheck all the boxes.
  4. On the Languages tab, select the language(s) you wish to include in your search. Click Select all to check all boxes or Unselect all to uncheck all boxes.
  5. Select the appropriate settings from the Options tab:
    1. Match whole words finds the search string only if it is a whole word (not part of a larger word), and will find consecutive words only. For example, searching for CAT with Match whole words selected will return cat and CAT tool, but not application or category.
    2. Case sensitive finds the search string only if it is in the TermBase with exactly the same capitalization.
    3. Starts With finds all results starting with the search string. Any term that contains the search string anywhere other than at the very beginning is not listed in the results, even if it's at the start of a word within the term.
    4. Exact Match finds results that match the search string exactly. Deselecting this box will return results where the search string is part of an entry.
    5. Skip term records with no target language translation returns corresponding results only if there is a translation in the target language.
    6. Match all words returns only results that contain all the words in the search string.
    7. Maximum Search Results can be set to limit the number of search results if speed is an issue.
