TermBase Search Limitations
Limitations when searching in TermBase metadata fields.
Hyperlinks
TermBase fields may contain hyperlinks to URLs or to other term records. When searching for an exact match in a definition or in a text field (such as the Context field, or any other text field that you may have created), if part of the searched expression contains a previously created hyperlink, it does not show up in the Results list. This is because such strings with user-added hyperlinks actually contain hyperlink codes in them. However, if the exact text you are searching for is completely part of the hyperlink, it will then appear in the Results list.
Example: If you are searching for the phrase allows the user to in your TermBase, the results will include ONLY entries where an exact match is found for this phrase (without any hyperlinks in the phrase).
Therefore, if one of your entries has the phrase allows the user to, where the user is hyperlinked, this entry will not appear in the Results list. This is because the actual information that is stored in the TermBase, in this case, is allows <hyperlink code>the user<hyperlink code> to.
However, in the above example, if you perform a search only on the phrase the user, the above entry will then be included in the Results list.
Field length
Only the first 400 words in a text field can be searched; results will not be found for the 401st word and later. This limit of 400 words is due to a Microsoft SQL limitation.
