Aligning without review

Generally, you do not need to review the results of the automatic alignment in the Alignment view. This is because, the SDL Alignment tool uses a matching algorithm that can align correctly most documents. If you align without review, you can still make small edits to the translation units (TUs) resulting from the alignment when SDL Trados Studio finishes the alignment and displays the resulting TU in the Translation Memory view.

When to align without review?

About this task

Align files without subsequent review in the Alignment view when:

  • the target file is the exact translation of the source file and there is no extra or missing text in one of the two files.
  • you want to quickly align a set of files just for generating translation matches for your current project.
  • you want to quickly align a big number of files just to generate bulk content for a TM.

How to align without review?

By default, Studio aligns all your files for further review by generating an *.sdlalign result file that you can then open in the Alignment view. However, when you are aligning multiple files, you may just want to generate TUs for your selected translation memory (TM).

About this task
