Specifying default languages

This topic describes how to specify a source and target language that are always selected when you create a new translation. The Editor > Languages settings determine:

About this task

  • What default source and target languages are used for all new translations. This enables you to quickly start a new translation if you use the same source and target languages for all your translations.
  • Whether or not you are prompted to specify a source and target language when creating a new translation.

The Editor > Languages settings are displayed when you select File > Options from the Ribbon and then select Editor > Languages from the navigation tree in the Options dialog box.

To select default languages:

Procedure

  1. Select File > Options from the Ribbon. The Options dialog box is displayed.
  2. Select Editor > Languages from the navigation tree. The language settings are displayed on the right.
  3. Under Default Languages, select your default source and target languages. Default selections for these languages are not required and can be changed when you create a translation if the Prompt for document languages if they cannot be detected automatically check box is selected.
  4. Click OK to save the settings and to close the Options dialog box.
