The Starter and Express views

View Description
WelcomeThis is where you can access the following commands:
  • Open a file for translation (in Starter only).
  • Open packages.
Selecting any of these commands will switch you to the appropriate view in Starter or Express.
ProjectsThis is where you view and work with projects:
  • In Starter and Express you can work with projects that were created when you opened a package or opened an SDL Trados GroupShare server-based project.
  • In Starter you can also work with projects that were created when you opened a file using the Translate Single Document command.
  • You can select a project to view detailed project and file information and track project and file status.
FilesThis is where you work with project files. From here you can:
  • Open files for translation.
  • Open files for review.
  • Perform some batch processing on files. Batch processing items that are not available in the Starter or Express editions are grayed out.
You can also view word counts and translation progress for these files.
ReportsThis is where you view project reports. The reports provide detailed translation analysis figures which feed directly into the project planning and budgeting process.
EditorThis is where files are translated and reviewed. You can also edit translation units (TUs) in the translation memory (TM) that you are using during translation.
Translation Memories This view is not available for use in Starter or Express. However, you can perform a limited amount of TM management in the other views. See the descriptions above for more information.
