Single-file translation in Starter edition

In the Starter edition, you can open a single file for translation. All file formats supported in SDL Trados Studio are also supported in the Starter version. You can also apply a translation memory (TM) and termbase during translation. Once translation is complete, you can verify the translation and then generate the target translated file.

Translate single document command

You can use the Translate Document command available in any view to open a file for translation. Alternatively, drag the file from your computer into the Editor View Navigation Pane or into the Editor Window.

A project is automatically created for you and settings specified in the Options dialog are applied.

After the file is open, use the Project Settings dialog to change the TM or termbase selections and to specify other settings.

Translation memories

When you open a file, you can create a file-based TM or add an existing file-based TM. You can only work with one file-based TM at a time when performing a single-file translation and the size of the TM is limited depending on what license you purchased.

Termbases

When you open a file you can select existing SDL MultiTerm termbases to use during translation. Termbases can be file and server-based.
