Adding the Session Cartridge to support Footprints

To use the Footprints feature in Experience Manager, add the Session Cartridge to the Content Service (or Session-enabled Content Service) using the Add-ons feature. (Available only with the deprecated Content Interaction Libraries).

About this task

A Footprint Set defines a set of conditions you can apply to content to see what the content looks like to visitors in different situations. If you want to use Experience Optimization with the Footprints feature in Experience Manager, add the Session Cartridge of the Ambient Data Framework to the resources of the Content Service (or Session-enabled Content Service).

Note that this setup is possible only for SDL Tridion Sites implementations that use the deprecated Content Interaction Libraries rather than the Public Content API (PCA), which was introduced in version 9.

Procedure

  1. Locate the following ZIP file on your installation media:

    Content Delivery\roles\content\add-ons\udp-content-session-extension-assembly-n.n.n-xxxx-core.zip

    where:

    • n.n.n corresponds to the specific release of Content Delivery you are using, such as version "11.1.0".
    • xxxx is a build number and matches your file from your installation media. For example: udp-content-session-extension-assembly-11.1.0-1061-core.zip
  2. From the Manage tab of the Add-ons screen, upload the ZIP file.

For instructions on using the Add-ons feature, refer to the related topics on this subject.

What to do next

From the Manage tab of the Add-ons screen, check the status of the uploaded Session Cartridge. If deployed successfully, the Content Service will report a "Success" status.
