Pages

A Page in Content Manager corresponds to a webpage on the published website. A Page is based on a Page Schema, which defines which, and how many, Regions (webpage areas) and/or Component Presentations (publishable Components) can exist on the webpage.

The following diagram shows how Pages combine different Content Manager building blocks to create a Page that you can publish to a website.

  • A Component Schema defines the structure of content stored in a Component based on that Schema.
  • A Component contain structured content, based on its Schema, which defines which fields you can include.
  • Component Templates define how Components are displayed and behave on a webpage.
  • A Component Presentation is the result of applying a Component Template to a Component: a publishable piece of content.
  • A Region represents an area of the webpage, and can contain Component Presentations and/or further Regions. Note that Regions are not separate items in Content Manager Explorer: you cannot create one in a Folder or Structure Group, like, say, a Component, Bundle or Page. Rather, they are defined for you already in a Page, and you specify their contents.
  • A Region Schema defines which, and how many, Regions and/or Component Presentations can be placed in a Region.
  • A Page is a top-level Region, which contains other Regions and/or Component Presentations.
  • A Page Template defines the site navigation and the look-and-feel of a Page. Page Templates usually define the header, footer, and content frames as well.
