Installing or upgrading the deprecated Safeguard feature
You can install or upgrade the deprecated Safeguard feature using a special installer. If you run the SDL Tridion Sites 9.1 Content Manager installer in the context of an upgrade, it removes the Safeguard feature. To upgrade the feature, you must perform a clean install, reapply your customizations, and migrate your configuration to appdata.
Before you begin
You must have administrator-level access to your Content Manager server machine in order to be able to install or upgrade this feature.
You must also have SDL Tridion Sites 9.1 installed, with the Experience Manager feature enabled.
Procedure
- If you are upgrading from SDL Tridion 2013 SP1 HR1, on your Content Manager server machine, and if you have modified the Safeguard Editor configuration file, SafeguardEditor.config, back up that file from the web\WebUI\Editors\Safeguard\Configuration\ subfolder of
%TRIDION_HOME%to a safe location. - Contact SDL Customer Support to obtain a Safeguard installation archive.
- Copy this archive to a location of your choice on your Content Manager server machine, and unpack it. The unpacked archive consists of a file called Install SDL Web Safeguard.cmd and an accompanying Data\ folder with additional resources.
- In Windows Explorer, go to the location of the Install SDL Web Safeguard.cmd file, right-click it and select Run as administrator from the context menu that opens.
- Follow the instructions in the installer to perform the clean install of the feature.
