Disabling a Promotion

Disable a Promotion in the Promotion List to take it offline.

About this task

Many Promotions are seasonal. When they are no longer applicable, instead of deleting them you can disable them so that you can reuse them at a later date. Disabling a Promotion keeps it in the system but prevents it from being returned in a query.

You can also disable a Promotion that is invalid until you have fixed the problems.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Targeting.

    The Targeting Dashboard appears.

  2. In the Source drop-down menu:
    1. Select a Web site for which you want to manage Promotions. For example, you will typically have a "Staging" Web site and a "Live" Web site:
      • Staging is the internal Web site where Experience Manager is set up for inline editing and testing
      • Live is your external, public-facing Web site
    2. Click the Promotions tab to view the list of Promotions available for the Web site.
A list of Promotions for which you have Manage Promotions rights is displayed.
  3. Go to the Promotion you want to disable and click Disable in the actions menu in the right-hand corner:

Results

The Promotion is set to disabled.

What to do next

A copy of the Promotion may exist in more than one Promotion List, therefore repeat the process to disable the Promotion on others systems.
