Configuring Trados

Either a Drupal administrator or the RWS Engineering team usually sets up and configures Trados to support the integration with Drupal.

About this task

The instructions in this section apply to a standard, out-of-the-box configuration, designed to get you started and run a test project. As part of the setup, you can configure and customize Trados in many different ways. Discuss these options with your Trados administrators and with your business leads during discovery sessions.

Trados has multiple options and features to deliver XML content, images, and assets for translation. Work closely with the RWS LDTS to make sure that you meet the requirements for files passed from Drupal to Trados and that your Trados environment contains the necessary file types, configurations, and workflows to support this integration.

The URL for the connector is https://cloud.trados.com. Provide this URL, along with the following information to the Drupal administrator who sets up the connector:
  • The user name and password of the service user account that you will create.
  • The client ID and client secret of the application that you will create.

Procedure

  1. In Trados, create a service user account to authenticate the connector.
    For example:
    • User name: A valid user name, ideally indicating the server name.
    • Password: A strong, 16-digit password.
To avoid password changes, only the connector should use this account.
  2. Assign the following permissions to the group to which the user belongs:
    • Language Cloud: Log in via RWS Language Cloud, View Cost Information
    • Portal: Create Job, Submit Job on, View all portal created jobs
  3. Create an application in Trados Customer Portal.
  4. At this point, Trados engineers will need to create the following:
    • A workflow for the Drupal integration, based on your requirements.
    • A file type to process Drupal content in Trados.
    • A configuration for the Drupal integration, based on your requirements.
    • Mappings for the languages you will translate content into.
The file type used for the Drupal integration must meet the following requirements:
    • Included extension: .xlf
    • Pre-processing tool: OASIS XLIFF 1.2 Compliant
    • Bilingual format: SDLXLIFF
