User setup by administrators
Your role (and your permissions) control the degree to which you can manage (view, add, edit, delete) the users within an account. Users can be members of several groups. To assign users to tasks, you must have visibility over that user's group.
- As administrator in the Root folder (user included in the Administrator group in the Root folder)
- As lead project manager in the Customers folder (user included in the Lead Project Manager group in the Customers folder)
- As lead project manager in a specific customer folder (user included in the Lead Project Manager group in a customer folder)
- As project manager in the Root folder (user included in the Project Manager group in the Root folder)
- As project manager in a specific customer folder (user included in the Project Manager group in a customer folder)
Access to resources is governed by the location of the groups a user belongs to.
Creating groups
- I am an administrator:
- I can create groups in any location (Root folder, Customers folder, customer specific folders, Vendors folder).
- I am a lead project manager located in the Customers folder:
- I can create groups in the Customers folder (my folder), in its child folders, but not in the Root folder.
- I am a lead project manager located in a specific customer folder:
- I can create groups in my folder (the customer folder where I am located), in its child folders, but not in folders located above (Customers folder or Root folder).
Inviting users in groups
- I am an administrator:
- I can invite (and add) users in any group from any location (Root folder, Customers folder, customer specific folders, Vendors folder).
- I can invite (and add) users in any group from any location (Root folder, Customers folder, customer specific folders).
- I am a lead project manager located in the Customers folder:
- I can invite (and add) users in any group from the Customers folder (the customer folder where I am located), in any group from my folder's children, but not in groups located in the Root folder.
- I am a lead project manager located in a specific customer folder:
- I can invite (and add) users in any group from my folder (the customer folder where I am located), in any group from my folder's children, but not in groups located above (Customers folder or Root folder).
- I am a lead project manager located in a specific customer folder, but I am also a (lead) project manager in another customer folder (brother folder). I can invite users from both folders (locations).
Assigning users to tasks
- I am an administrator:
- I can assign users (and groups) from folder X and from above folder X to project tasks located in folder X.
- I can assign vendors (and vendor users) to tasks.
- I am a lead project manager located in the Customers folder:
- I can assign users (and groups) from the Customers folder and from above (Root folder) to projects tasks located in the Customers folder.
- If I am a member of a Vendor Project Manager group located in vendor folder Y, I can assign the vendors from vendor folder Y to project tasks located in the Customers folder.
- I am a lead project manager located in a specific customer folder:
- I can assign users (and groups) from my customer folder and from above (my parent, grandparent or Root folder) to projects tasks located in my customer folder.
- If I am a member of a Vendor Project Manager group located in vendor folder Y, I can assign the vendors from vendor folder Y to project tasks located in my folder.
- I am a project manager located in the Root folder:
- I can assign users (and groups) from folder X and from above folder X to project tasks located in folder X.
- If I am a member of Vendor Project Manager group, I can also assign vendors (and vendor users) to tasks.
- I am a project manager located in a specific customer folder:
- I can assign users (and groups) from my customer folder and from above (my parent, grandparent or Root folder) to projects tasks located in my customer folder.
- If I am a member of a Vendor Project Manager group located in vendor folder Y, I can assign the vendors from vendor folder Y to project tasks located in my folder.
What happens if you are a lead project manager for customer A, but also a project manager for customer B? This scenario allows you to assign users from both folders, even if those folders are brother folders.
