Specifying profiles for QA Checker

Use the QA Checker 3.0 > QA Checker Profiles settings to save, switch and share QA Checker profiles.

Before you begin

Make sure the QA Checker provider is enabled. To enable QA Checker, go to File > Options > Verification and select the QA Checker 3.0.

About this task

The QA Checker profile contains the settings specified on all of the pages in the QA Checker 3.0 settings. Profiles are saved to an XML settings file (*.sdlqasettings).

When saving a profile for the QA Checker settings under a specific language pair, the profile will only include settings for:

  • Punctuation
  • Numbers
  • Word List
  • Regular Expressions
  • QA Checker Profiles

You can upload a QA Checker profile file created in the general QA Checker settings to the QA Checker settings from the language pair level and the five settings categories from the QA Checker at language pair level will be changed.

If you upload a QA Checker profile file created at language pair level to the general QA Checker settings, only the settings available at language pair level will be changed.

Procedure

  1. Choose where you want to specify the settings.
    • To specify verification settings for your active project, go to Project Settings.
    • To specify verification settings for your active project but only for a specific language pair, go to Project Settings > [source language] - [target language] language pair.
    • To specify verification settings for all future projects, go to File > Options.
    • To specify verification settings during batch tasks, go to the Projects view or the Files view, select Batch Tasks, choose a batch process and go to the Settings page.
    • To specify verification settings in a project template, create a project template by going to the Projects view selecting Create Project Template from the Ribbon, then specify verification settings in the Project Template Settings dialog. You can also edit an existing project template.
  2. Decide whether you want to specify QA Checker settings:
    • For all language pair levels (system-wide) - Go to Verification > QA Checker 3.0. If you choose to specify QA Checker settings at system-wide level, you can specify all the available pages:
      • Segments Verification
      • Segments to Exclude
      • Inconsistencies
      • Punctuation
      • Numbers
      • Word List
      • Regular Expressions
      • Trademark Check
      • Length Verification
      • QA Checker Profiles
    • For individual language pairs - Go to Language Pairs > [language pair] > Verification > QA Checker 3.0. If you choose to specify QA Checker settings at individual-language pair level, you can specify ONLY the following available pages:
      • Punctuation
      • Numbers
      • Word List
      • Regular Expressions
      • QA Checker Profiles
  3. Select QA Checker Profiles from navigation.
  4. Select Import settings to select a different XML settings (*.sdlqasettings) file. This will replace all of your current settings for the QA Checker. You may want to do this so you can use a profile from another user or if you want to switch between different saved versions of your profile.
  5. Select Export settings to save all of your current QA Checker settings as an XML settings (*.sdlqasettings) file. You may want to do this if you want to share your selected settings in your profile with other users or to save them for use at another time.
