Editing segments

When you edit TM content, you can change segments and their formatting, insert content, delete content, copy content from source to target, copy tags from source to content.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Trados Team by accessing this link: https://cloud.trados.com.
  2. Go to the Resources view.
  3. Select Linguistic Resources > Translation Memories.
  4. Select the check box corresponding to the TM you want to maintain.
  5. Expand the TM Maintenance menu and select the language pair fir which you want to perform maintenance operations.
  6. In the TM Maintenance Editor, select a segment and edit it:
    • Tags - To insert a tag from the source segment to the target segment, hold the Ctrl key, and then select the source tag. You can delete the entire tag pair or only one of the tags (either the end or the start tag). When you delete one tag, the other tag pair is automatically deleted.
    • Formatting and case - Select a TU, go to the Home tab, and in the Formatting group use the Show Whitespaces and Change Case menus. You can also change case by selecting a segment and pressing Shift+F3.
    • Characters or symbols - Select a TU, go to the Home tab, and use the options in the Insert Characters group.
    • Whitespaces - Go to Home, and in the Formatting group select Show Whitespaces.
    • Copy content- Select some source text, copy it, and paste it the target or select some target text, copy it, and paste it in the target.
    • Delete content - Delete word forward using Ctrl+Delete or delete word backwards using Ctrl+Backspace.
  7. When finished with all your changes, check your segments for this symbol edited but unconfirmed TU. These segments were edited or their status was changed, but these segments are not confirmed yet. To confirm a segment, select it and then select Confirm changes. If you do not select Confirm changes, the segments are not updated in the TM with the latest changes.
  8. Close the TM Maintenance Editor.
  9. In the [translation memory name] dialog, select Save.
