Creating projects with the Generative Subtitles feature

If you purchase the Generative Subtitles feature you can translate a video file end-to-end using Generative AI technology.

Before you begin

Ensure you observe all the prerequisites before creating a project with the Generative Subtitles feature.
  1. Install the Generative Subtitles Preview app (optional).
    1. Log in.
    2. In the upper right-hand corner, select your account name.
    3. Select Integrations > Applications.
    4. Select the check box of the Generative Subtitles Preview app to open it.
    5. Select Publish.
  2. Create and edit a file type configuration which supports the subtitling preview.
    1. Log in.
    2. Create a file type configuration or open an existing one. Ensure the Subtitle formats file type is included.
    3. Open the Subtitle formats file type, and then, under Preview Settings, add In Context preview for Video subtitles as a preview type. This ensures that you can preview the localized subtitles within the video in Trados Online Editor. The order of the preview types in the file type configuration determines the order in which they are presented to you in Trados Online Editor.
  3. Configure a workflow which supports generative subtitling.
    1. Log in.
    2. Create a workflow as per usual and select the Generative Subtitle Translation&Review workflow template (if in Trados Enterprise or Trados Team) or the Generative Subtitle Translation for Team (if in Trados Team).
    3. Adapt the settings of the Generative Transcription task:
      • Transcription model - This setting specifies the degree of accuracy of the transcription. Select one of the options: Fast, Medium, Accurate.
      • Speech recognition - This setting specifies how speech is recognized in general and in contexts where speech is less clear. Select one of the options: Loose (which accepts all recognized words), Flexible, Strict (which avoids the use of low-probability words).
      • Segment length - This setting refers to the maximum number of characters per transcribed segment. The recommended value is 42.
  4. Ensure you have the correct source files.

Procedure

  1. Follow the usual steps for project creation.
  2. Create a project as per usual and make sure you include the workflow resources created on the basis of the select the Generative Subtitle Translation&Review workflow template (if in Trados Enterprise or Trados Accelerate) or the Generative Subtitle Translation for Team workflow template (if in Trados Team).
  3. Termbases can be powerful tools to increase the accuracy of the translation, so include them in your translation engine. For example, you might want to add termbases to the project and assign system statuses to terms that you want to be used or avoided.
  4. While further configuring the workflow resource, consider the following recommendations:
    2. Enable the Engineering task, to download the *.srt file, to perform any subtitle edits (for example, change time stamps), and then re-upload back as a new source file version.

What to do next

After the project is complete, the translated file can be downloaded in *.srt format. Open the project, select the Files tab, select the check boxes corresponding to the *.srt files you want to download, and select Download. An Error task is generated automatically if your project is not transcribed within an hour. Projects that are not transcribed and that do not have corresponding Error tasks are still waiting to be processed.
