Creating new users

To allow users to sign in to Content Manager and access the repository, create Content Manager users. Users can be authenticated by Content Manager itself or by an external system (single sign-on).

Before you begin

To perform this task, you must sign in to Organize Space as a user with one of the following privileges:
  • System Administrator privilege
  • User Management privilege

Procedure

  1. Sign in to Organize Space.
  2. On the top tab level, select the Settings tab.
  3. On the second tab level, select the Users tab.
  4. On the third tab level, select the Users tab.
  5. Select Add New at top right.
  6. Enter data as described below:
    1. User name: Required. The user login name. When using Internal authentication, this is the name you enter into the username field of the Content Manager login screen.
    2. Password: If User type is Internal, then enter the password for this user. If User type is External, then leave the field empty.
    3. Email: The email address of the user. This must be a properly formatted email address of the format name@example.com.
    4. Language: Required. Used as the default language when the user, say, creates a new object.
    5. Roles: The user role(s) that this user has. You can select one or more user roles from the dropdown list.
This setting determines if the user is displayed as a potential recipient in the workflow.
    6. Groups: Required. The user group(s) that this user belongs to. You can select one or more user groups from the dropdown list.
The user's group membership determines the permissions and access the user has to folders and data in the repository.
    7. User type: Required. Select the correct value from the dropdown list:
      • Select Internalif the user is to be internally authenticated, Content Managerthen verifies its username and password.
      • Select Externalif the user is to be externally authenticated. An external system then verifies its username and password. Use this value if you are implementing single sign-on (SSO).
    8. External ID: Required if using central authentication. Enter the external authentication system identification.
For example, for Windows authentication enter domain\username.
  7. Select Save to apply your changes and close the dialog.
    The user is added.
