Classifying content
Classifying content consists of applying tags to content to organize, relate and classify your website’s content. In Tridion Sites, the tags can be internally defined Keywords or external Concepts that are managed in Taxonomy Space. Editors can classify content items on an individual basis, but you can also can perform heavy restructuring operations using with bulk classification.
Smart Tagging (Experience Space only)
You can optionally implement the Smart Tagging feature to promote efficient and consistent classification of content, which ultimately improves content findability on your websites or other platforms. The Experience Space user interface supports Smart Tagging in the following two modes:
- Individual, semi-automatic
- Experience Space users can select the Suggest tags button while editing the item (Components and other items with metadata). If a field has been configured in the Schema for Smart Tagging, the field gets updated to show a list of suggested concepts. The suggestions are based on the item's current content and metadata.
- Bulk, fully automatic
- Experience Space users (or the API) can choose to analyze and apply taxonomy concepts in bulk mode, that is by selecting multiple Components or other items from the list view and then choosing the Autoclassify option.
In both cases, the suggestions are based on the current content and metadata of each content item.
Manual classification
Whether working in Experience Space or the Classic user interface, you can also classify content by editing the individual items and changing the classification manually.
- Classifying content, which adds a one or more classification tags to the selected Content Manager items.
- Unclassifying content, which removes all existing tags from the selected Content Manager items.
- Reclassifying content, which replaces existing tags in the selected Content Manager items.
These options apply only to internal taxonomies and are only available in Content Manager Explorer. You can perform these actions provided that the action does not violate Schema rules. Successful classification results in a new version of an item, and if the item is associated with a Workflow Process, the item enters Workflow.
