Configuring Source content

To send content for translation, you need to configure the Publications, Folders, Structure Groups, or Categories that contain source content.

Before you begin

To configure source content, you must have Translation Configuration rights for the Publication and the following information, depending on the translation system you are using:
  • TMS and Trados Enterprise require the Configuration ID (GUID)
  • WorldServer requires Client and Project Type information

Procedure

  1. Open the Content Manager Explorer.
  2. Select the Publication, Folder, Structure Group, or Category which contains content in a source language and choose Properties from the context menu.
  3. Select the Translation tab.
  4. Set Item is configured for translation to Yes.
  5. In the Item is configured for translation section:
    1. Select the Source for translation option.
    2. Optional: In the Send notification e-mail to field, enter a comma-separated list of e-mail addresses of people who need to be notified when items are sent for translation.
  6. In the Translation source configuration section, select one of the following for the Translation Management System.
    • RWS WorldServer
    • RWS TMS – select this option for either TMS or Trados Enterprise
Configuration fields appear, depending on your selection.
  7. For WorldServer:
    1. Select a Client. Each available Client is associated to one or more Project Types, which will contain the definitions of a translation project.
    2. From the Project Type Configuration list, select one of the following:
      1. Always use a specific project type – specifies a single Project Type to be used for all Translation Jobs.
      2. Always use a specific project type – allows users to select a Project Type when they create a Translation Job.
    3. If you choose to define a single project type, select the project now from the Project Type list, which indicate the source language.
      • To allow users to select a Project Type when they create a Translation Job,
        • Select the Source language.
    4. If you chose to allow users to select the project type, you now need to select the Source language.
In the Target language configuration section, you can see:
    • Language—the allowed target languages.
    • Publication—the Publications configured to receive content.
    • Default Project Type—the default Project Types assigned to a language/or the default Workflow associated with a selected Project Type.
  8. For TMS or Trados Enterprise, enter the Configuration ID that identifies a translation configuration for the translation management system.

When you enter the Configuration ID, the language of the Source Publication is set and you can configure each target language.

Note that it may take a few moments for the information to be retrieved from translation management system.

In the Target language configuration section, you can see:
    • Language—shows a target language allowed by the Configuration ID.
    • Publication—the Publications configured to receive content.
    • Default Workflow—select a default workflow for each translation language pair (when you initiate a Translation Job, you can specify a different workflow).
    • Authorization required:
      • select the check box if you want translations to stop at the Authorization workflow stage when going though workflow (if the Authorization stage is part of the workflow)
      • deselect the check box if you want translations to skip the Authorization workflow stage when going though workflow (for example, if the Translation Job is relatively small and/or is urgent and the costs of the translation involved relatively minor).
  9. In the Translate item options section (available when you select Publication properties), select the items properties you want to send for translation.
  10. Click Save and Close.
