Adding cost models

Cost models apply only to a single source language. To set up cost modeling for multiple source languages, you need to create a cost model for each source language.

Before you begin

Before you add cost models, you need to create cost model rules and scoping configurations.
  • To create cost model rules, go to Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Cost Model Setup > Cost Model Rules.
  • To create scoping configurations, go to Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Scoping Configurations.

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, go to Management > Linguistic Tool Setup > Cost Model Setup > Cost Models.
  2. Select Add.
  3. In the Cost Model: New dialog box, do the following:
    1. On the General tab, in the Name and Description boxes, enter an appropriate name and description for your new cost model.
    2. Select the appropriate source locale, vendor, currency, and scoping configuration.
The match range columns in the Cost per Word for Segment Match Range table are the ranges defined in the scoping configuration you selected.
    3. In the Cost per Word for Segment Match Range table, specify the per-word cost for each match range and target locale.
    4. If necessary, under Additional Charges and Discounts, add additional charges and discounts to your cost model.
    5. On the Access Control tab, next to Access Mode, configure who can see and use your cost model:
    OptionDescription
UnrestrictedEvery user who has the source locale of the cost model configured and whose user type allows access to cost models.
RestrictedEvery user, workgroup, workflow role, or client to which you grant access.
For example, to grant access to this cost model only to Susan Jacobs, to the Interns workgroup, and to the Translators workflow role, select Restricted next to Access Mode, and then do the following:
    • Next to Users, select Pick users, and then move Susan Jacobs from the Available Users list to the View Cost Estimate Permissions list.
    • Next to Workgroups, select Pick workgroups, and then move Interns from the Available Workgroups list to the View Cost Estimate Permissions list.
    • Next to Workflow Roles, select Pick workflow roles, and then move Translators from the Available Workflow Roles list to the View Cost Estimate Permissions list.
  4. Select Save.
