Creating projects from existing ones

Starting with WorldServer 11.3.1, you can use existing project groups as templates for creating new ones. This can be useful especially if you have to create multiple project groups with few differences between them.

About this task

You can create new project groups from existing ones only on the WorldServer 11 interface. When you create a new project group from an existing one, the wizard automatically copies all the configurations that you made for the existing project group, except for the due dates and the translatable assets.

If the project group that you want to use as a template contains custom project attributes, WorldServer copies these attributes to the new project group and gives them the values configured in the first project of the template project group. Note that the order of the projects in project groups is determined alphabetically. For example, if the project group you use as a template has projects for the Alsatian (France), Breton (France), and Occitan (France) locales and each of these projects has different values for the same custom attributes, the custom attributes in the new project group will have the values configured for the Alsatian (France) project, because it is the first in its project group.

Procedure

  1. In WorldServer, go to the Projects page.
On the WorldServer 11 interface, you can get to the Projects page in several ways:
    • By selecting Projects on the slide-out navigation pane (if it is available).
    • By selecting Work Volume or Your Assignments on the Overview tab of the Home page.
    • By selecting the number of projects displayed under Your Assignments.
  2. On the Projects page, select the check box corresponding to the project group that you want to use as a template.
  3. On the ribbon, select Create from Existing.
  4. In the Create from Existing wizard, make the necessary changes in each section.
