Quotes and quote management
A quote is an estimation of the scope, timing, and cost of a potential translation project.
- About quotes and their statuses
A quote addresses the following question: How much will this work cost and how long will it take? - Types of quote approval processes
Quote approval processes rely on the timely communication between the client manager and the client user. These processes involve many manual and automatic steps that start with an initial quote request and end with an approved quote or with a translation project based on the quote. There are two types of quote approval processes: manual and workflow-based. You can select a quote approval process for a client when you add or modify clients on the Management > User Setup > Clients page. - Creating quotes
Typically, client managers respond to requests for quotes that were created by client users in WorldServer TransPort. Occasionally, client managers may create quotes on behalf of clients. For example, a client may request a quote for a translation project via phone or email. In this case, the client manager can log in to WorldServer and create a quote for that client. - Modifying quotes
When you modify quotes, you might want to change details such as their status, their project type, or their locales, or to add or remove quote documents and assets that need to be translated. You can also see the projects based on these quotes, as well as all the changes made to the quotes. - Deleting quotes
If you try to delete a quote that is referenced by other objects in WorldServer, that quote is disabled, not deleted. You can only delete quotes that have the Abandoned status.
