Performing a quick search

You can use quick search to locate objects that are accessible to you. This includes objects in your Inbox and Workpool, or under the object hierarchy in the tree view.

Before you begin

Prior to using Search in Contenta Web, the SysAdmin must have built the index (or Solr collection). See "Configuring Search" in the Contenta Administrator User Guide for information about search collections. As content is added, deleted, or modified, the collection is updated dynamically, requiring no further action by you.

About this task

Quick Search searches only fields, not names or containers. Quick Search is located in the Repository view, below the banner; it is available to all users. You can control which columns are visible by right-clicking on any column head. From there, you can show or hide individual columns.

Procedure

  1. From the drop-down list, located to the right of the search type-in field, click the type of the search.
    TypeFunction
    DMC Code

When you click DMC Code, this option searches for Data Modules that match, or partially match, the code sequence you enter. You do not have to specify a full DMC Code. For example, you can enter a code only in the SDC field.

Hover your cursor over each segment of the DMC Code to learn its purpose.

    SCORM

When you click SCORM, this option searches for matching SCORM Content Packages.

    PM Code

When you click PM Code, this option searches for Publication Modules that match, or partially match, the code sequence that you enter. You do not have to specify a full PM Code. For example, you can enter a code only in the Issuer field.

Hover your cursor over each segment of the PM Code to learn its purpose.

    IC Number

When you click IC Number, this option searches the Information Control Number field.

    Tech/Info

When you click Tech/Info, this option searches for Data Modules that match the Tech Name or Info Name (or both) that you enter.

PropertiesWhen you click Properties, this option searches for matching property sheet metadata.
ContentWhen you click Content, this option searches for matching content.
  2. In the type-in field, enter the search string.
  3. Click the magnifying glass icon.

Search results appear in the Results view, and include the location of the object (ID Path) See Searching for information. If it is a reused object (an object that is linked to a master object and located in more than one place) all locations are listed. To display additional results, select the next page of results from the arrows to the right of the Results field to advance or go back a page.

  4. To refine the results returned, enter a Name in the Find in List... field, located in the upper-left corner of the Results view. The Find in List... field filters only by Name.
  5. To select an individual result, click it.
The property sheet for that object appears beneath it.
  6. To located the object in the S1000D object hierarchy, double click an individual result.
The object hierarchy in the Tree view expands to reveal the object.
