Stable data

Stable data is the last-approved, updated data. Data in a project that is being modified is not in stable data. Stable data is only updated with modifications made in a project when they are approved and the project is posted.

Stable data is data that is located outside a project. It has the last-approved version of the data in your publications. If the Emperor’s Kitchen cookbook is already in publication but needs to be revised, the data that needs revision is placed in a project. The data in the project undergoes revisions but the stable data (outside the project) remains unchanged while the work is being done. This allows you to publish the cookbook using the last-approved data until new data is approved and posted. Later, when revisions in a project are approved, the ProjMan posts the project and the stable data is updated with those revisions. This updates all publications in which the data appears.

Stable data can be in a hierarchical structure under a container or under hierarchical structures that are organized as your publications are organized. The heirarchy under which the stable data is located is decided and designed by your sysadmin and others in your organization when SDL Contenta is installed and configured.
