Creating a metadata file

Follow these steps to create a metadata file.

  1. Start the Contenta Administration tool, pcmadmin, in singleuser mode. (Executing the Administration Tool).
  2. In the administration window, click File > Export MetaData File.

    The Exporting MetaData To File window appears.

  3. Enter a path (optional) and name (required) for the file in the Enter File Name field.

    If you do not specify a path, the file is created in the directory from which you executed the pcmadmin command.

  4. Click Create.

To create a new database using the metadata file, use the new database command with the -metadata switch. See the Database Maintenance Commands topic in this documentation for more information about the new database command.
