Group Objects
The Group Object is designed to organize Objects under a Configuration or Project Object.
Note that the Group is a special Object with special Containment Rules, it inherits the Containment Rules of its parent. The Containment Rules for Group in pcmadmin are displayed as:
If the Group inherits the Containment Rules of its parents and if a Group is placed under a Document then any Object that:
- can be created under a Document Object can then also be created under the Group Object
- cannot be created under a Document Object then cannot be created under the Group Object
Note the following about the Project Object:
You will note that the Project cannot be created under a Document and since the Group inherits its parent’s Containment Rules, the previous error now makes sense:
An Object of type Project cannot be placed in a Document
