Sharing a link from the Reference Implementation

URLs in the Reference Implementation are made up with identifiers and you can share using either human-readable links or shorter links with IDs only.

Procedure

  1. In the Reference Implementation, find a topic for which you wish to share a link.
  2. Copy the link from the browser's URL bar.
The URL always has a specific format, using a 6-digit identifier for the publication plus a second 6-digit identifier for the binary or page.
  3. Edit the URL or use it as is.
    • For a long format URL, just use the Reference Implementation-generated URL as is. The long format includes titles and is a maximum 250 characters in length.
    • For a shorter URL, you need to retain the base URL and the identifiers (for publication plus page or binary resource) and after that you can truncate or change the titles as much as you want.
For example, the full URL for a topic might be: https://mywebsite/WebApp/30597/8038/Sample-Publication/Interesting-topic. Any of the following versions of this URL will also direct users to the page entitled "Interesting topic".
    • https://mywebsite/WebApp/30597/8038/
    • https://mywebsite/WebApp/30597/8038/Sample-Publication/Interesting
    • https://mywebsite/WebApp/30597/8038
    • https://mywebsite/WebApp/30597/8038/My_name_for_topic
  4. Share the link with others.
