Reassigning targets of context-sensitive help buttons

The wietmsd_prg.xml file maps each context-sensitive help button (identified by an ID) to a topic: clicking the button displays the topic. You can change the target of any help button to point to a custom topic you created by editing wietmsd_prg.xml.

Procedure

  1. Create a topic, say, MyCustomTopic.html in the templates\FullSupport\httpdocs\help\ subdirectory of your LiveContent S1000D home directory.
  2. Navigate to your collection directory.
  3. Open wietmsd_prg.xml for editing.
  4. Within the file's <help> element, find the configitem element with its name attribute set to help.XXXX, where xxxx is the ID of the help button you want to reassign (say 1001).
  5. Set the contents of its <value> child element to /help/MyCustomTopic.html, where MyCustomTopic.html is the name of the custom topic you created.
  6. Save and close wietmsd_prg.xml.
