Creating return packages

A return package contains files for which a manual task has been completed. You can only create return packages for files that were initially in a project package from another user. When you create a return package it only includes the project files and not the translation memory (TM), termbases (TBs) or AutoSuggest dictionaries. A return package can include some of the translated or reviewed files or all of the translated and reviewed files that were originally sent in the project package. We recommend that you send the return package to the person that sent the original package. If you pass the package back to someone other than the original sender, it would require you to create a new package.

About this task

If you opened a project package from an enterprise application (SDL TMS or SDL WorldServer) in SDL Trados Studio , when you create a return package, it will automatically create it in a format that you can upload back to that application.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Projects view and select the package for which you completed the task.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Packages group, select Create Return Package.
  3. On the Select Files page of the Create Return Package wizard, select the checkboxes next to the files you want to include in the return package.
  4. Select Next.
  5. On the Return Package Options page:
    1. Select Browse to choose a location different from the default one.
    2. Add a comment, if necessary.
  6. Select Finish.
  7. On the Creating Return Package page, consult the progress of your return package and choose a return package dispatch method:
    • To automatically send the package by email, select the package you want to send, and then select Send Package by Email. Select Yes. A draft email addressed to the selected user is displayed with the selected package file attached. Select Send to send the email and return to the Create Project Package wizard. In some situations a Microsoft Office Outlook dialog requesting you allow access to Microsoft Outlook is displayed. Select the Allow access for checkbox, and then select the amount of time, in minutes, from the drop-down list. SDL recommends that you select 10 minutes from the drop-down list.
    • To send the package by a different method such as placing it on a FTP site, select Open Target Folder to open the folder where your packages are saved.
  8. Select Close.
