If you use multiple translation providers for translating a file, SDL Trados Studio lists the generated results starting with the first translation memory (TM) or Machine Translation (MT) provider available on the Translation Memory and Automated Translation page. If you use a combination of MT and TM providers, SDL Trados Studio resorts to the MT engines only if your selected TMs do not generate any results, which saves costs on your MT subscriptions.
Procedure
- Decide whether you want to prioritize translation providers:
- For all future projects - Go to pair.
- For the current project - Go to the Projects view, select a project. On the Home tab, select Project Settings, and then in the Project Settings dialog, select pair.
The Language Pairs settings are displayed on the right. Any language pairs for which default translation memory selections have been added, are displayed in the Language Pairs box.
- Go to .
Note: The settings you specify on at individual language pair level, override the settings specified at All Language Pairs level.
- Select a translation provider and then use the Up and Down.
Tip: In general, keep MT engines at the bottom of your list of translation providers for the best and fastest look-up strategy. This ensures that TM matches are generally looked up first and MT engines are used only when needed, depending on your other settings.
- To always receive MT results in addition to TM matches, go to from navigation, and enable the Look up segments in MT even if a TM match has been found option.
- Select OK.
CAUTION:
Using an MT provider may violate your non-disclosure agreement with your translation customer. Check with your customer before connecting to an MT provider. The
*.sdlxliff bilingual file records if you used one of the MT providers during translation.
