Analysis (ANL) files

Analysis Files (ANL files) are used to identify or ignore content for translation, for example to filter out fields or metadata fields of a Component that you do not want to translate.

You can build XML and HTML ANL files using the SDLX component in SDLTrados. You can then install and run ANL files in SDL TMS as a resource, and then associate the ANL file with a Content Type to define the type of content which requires filtering when it is passed to SDL TMS for translation.

You can also create analysis files using the SDLX component which offers a graphical user interface to include and exclude content and allows you create an analysis file by loading in an XML file. For example, you can load in the contents of the <tcm:Data> section of a Tridion XML file (the section of XML which is sent for translation).
