Changes to databases

This section describes changes that may impact your Audience Manager and Outbound E-mail databases.

Indexing custom extended detail fields
Depending on the size and set up of the CONTACTS_EXTENDED_DETAIL table, it may be useful to create indexes on extended details that are heavily used for searching. On Oracle, you need to create function-based indexes using the Upper(fieldname) function. For more information, see the Outbound E-mail Implementation Manual.
Database synchronization
In Outbound E-mail 2009 SP1, the tests performed when synchronizing Contact information between the Outbound E-mail Server and Presentation Server have become stricter than they were in Outbound E-mail 2009. The structure of the Outbound E-mail database and the Outbound E-mail Subscription database must now be identical, otherwise errors are thrown.
When synchronization errors occur, refer to the log file for details about the errors and how to fix them. Log file configuration is specified in the <Log> section of the Outbound E-mail configuration file OutboundEmail.xml.
